petani rumput laut

The series documents seaweed farmers at work along the tidal flats of Kuta, Lombok, in the early morning hours. Shot on analog film, the images capture a dreamlike stillness — solitary figures moving across a mirror of shallow water, silhouetted against a distant volcanic peak. As dawn breaks, sky and sea dissolve into soft gradients of rose and blue, blurring the line between land and water, reality and illusion. Yet this quiet labor is under threat: as tourism development rapidly transforms Kuta's coastline, traditional seaweed farming risks disappearing, taking with it a livelihood — and a way of life — that has sustained local communities and their culture for generations.
